Houston Business Development, Inc. (HBDi) participated in a business outreach forum on March 1, 2012 focused on conducting business with TxDot, and other public and private sector organizations. The event which was held in Houston at the Omni Hotel Westside assembled a diverse group of over 400 people from the public, and private sectors to discuss opportunities of doing business with TxDot and other state agencies. The luncheon keynote speaker for the day-long event was Dr. Audrey Andrews, Director of Business Diversity for the State of Texas, who talked about the current economic climate for the state of Texas and opportunities for small business owners. The attendees consisted of a broad spectrum of businesses from industries including engineering, real estate, construction and information technology services, and they took advantage of the resources provided.
The briefing discussions, structured in a concurrent breakout session format, focused on financial resources for small businesses, marketing businesses to the state, small business certifications, and technical assistance for small business development.
